Another victory: Maryland passes gay marriage bill
There is yet another victory for LGBT rights, especially same-sex couple rights.
Today, Maryland became the 7th state (others mostly in New England, D.C. & Iowa) that has passed another same-sex marriage bills. This bill will allow same-sex couples to wed in Maryland too and represents yet another victory for marriage equality.
The first state (commonwealth) that legalized same-sex marriage was Massachusetts. To know your marriage rights in Massachusetts, check out GLAD’s website.
This development happened a few hours ago and after yesterday’s decision by Pres. Obama’s administration to stop defending DOMA because in their words it is unconstitutional.
Mass. Governor Deval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley reacted to the news with support for equality for same-sex couples.
